Lets put a disclaimer in this blog first and foremost. This blog is not about preventing pregnancy. For that, I would visit the health and beauty aisle at your local supermarket and look for something that is made of latex (laughs). This blog is about the Pregnancy prevention programwhich prevents diastasis recti from occurring or helps heal any separation that has occurred from having babies or years of exercise.
This is called the No Mummy Tummy program. Certified under the Tupler Technique, No Mummy Tummy is a trainer-led the program which guides you through a nine-week program specifically designed to heal, teach and support you through a Pregnancy prevention program which treats the underlying medical condition of Diastasis Recti.
As I found out through my Pregnancy prevention program,I had already had a Diastasis Recti of labour four centimeters under my rib cage from the years of yoga, gymnastics and swimming that I had done all through my childhood. The Pregnancy prevention programthat I completed through No Mummy Tummy assisted in reducing this separation to less than one centimeter. It also helped with my pelvic floor weakness; another condition that the No Mummy Tummy Pregnancy prevention programcan focus on.
The Pregnancy prevention programcan help to reduce the side effects of Diastasis Recti. The symptoms which can result from Diastasis Recti could be:
If you are reading this and indeed have any of these symptoms, you may have Diastasis Recti. To have a tummy check or speak to our leading Master Trainer from No Mummy Tummy call 1300 217 372 to book it in.
The Pregnancy prevention programsare led by trainers who will teach you how to implement the 4-step program. The 4-step program includes wearing a diastasis splint (not a compression bandage or abdominal binder), strengthening and protecting the connective tissue, moving around safety and including exercises which are diastasis safe.
Commitment to the Pregnancy prevention program is required to see results and should be undertaken either during pregnancy (from the second trimester) to reduce the chance of diastasis recti occurring, or post-baby, to help reduce abdominal separation. It is best to identify if you have separation by testing for Diastasis Recti. Testing for Diastasis Recti will identify the severity of your Diastasis Recti and give you options to help reduce the condition and any associated symptoms.
